Browser Testing Protocol

What is browser testing?

At Mangrove, we test a variety of different browsers using BrowserStack to ensure that no matter where your site visitors are coming from, they get the same experience.

What browsers do we support?

Generally we support browsers over 2% of the market share at the time of launch (market share source 1 and market share source 2). This will include most use cases like Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (both mobile and desktop where applicable).

For more specific or older browsers, we can make sure that the base functionality is there (with exceptions for things outside our control), but we cannot guarantee aesthetic perfection. You can read more on our our Internet Explorer Policy, or email us with any additional questions.

General browser checklist

  1. Extensive desktop responsive testing on current version of one of the following:
    • Chrome
    • Firefox
    • Safari
  2. Functional testing on desktop for the remaining two browsers from #1.
  3. Functional testing on desktop in the oldest version that has more than or around 2% usage (at the time of testing) of the Safari browser.
  4. Functional testing in the newest version of the following mobile browsers:
    • Samsung Internet
    • Chrome for Android
    • Safari for iOS

What is functional testing?

  • Width calculation issues (navigation and other things wrapping inconsistently)
  • Form field and button consistency
  • Hover states
  • Margins and paddings between sections
  • Photos not cropping correctly, or flowing outside of their containers
  • SVG appearance
  • Flexbox, Grid and other modern CSS technologies that need fallback code
  • JavaScript functionality
  • The Magnifier/Zoom OS feature works on core aspects of the website
