What is Fathom Analytics?

Fathom says it best: “a simple, privacy-focused website analytics tool that gets you just the data you need to run your business, without cruft and clutter.” Fathom is based in Canada and its servers are in Europe. Fathom takes digital privacy seriously, as do we.

Fathom collects basic analytics data without any identifying information or cookies, so, as site developers, we don’t have to go through the process of GDPR compliance, which includes integrating cookie permission banners. The data Fathom collects may not be as robust as an existing analytics platform (e.g. Google Analytics) that your site may be using.

How do I use Fathom?

We’ll supply you with the link to your dashboard (make sure to bookmark it!). The dashboard is pretty straightforward and easy on the eyes. We suggest logging in and taking a look around. Fathom also has helpful documentation to help you along the way.

How does this impact our site’s privacy policy?

Fathom is one step ahead of us! They’ve even drafted some sample privacy policy language for you to use. If you want us to integrate this on your site, just let us know.

Our thoughts

We love Fathom Analytics. The platform provides a similar set of data to what you may be already receiving with a different platform, but it offers less fuss and less muss.

Our Maintenance & Care clients even get Fathom Analytics for free.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns, we are happy to help.
