
The Ask
ACU came to Mangrove with a clear need: a new public website to replace their existing custom platform, which had become cumbersome and no longer met the needs of their growing organization. As the primary entry point to digital banking, the new site needed to be modern, accessible, and easy to maintain.
Key goals included improving the member experience and employee experiences online and developing a platform that supports deeper financial relationships with existing members. ACU has continued to improve their search rankings over the years, and this new site will assist in reaching their goal to promote ACU’s values as a cooperative, community-rooted financial institution in Manitoba.

The Solution
We designed and built a custom website for ACU using HubSpot, a platform already integrated into their marketing tools and workflows. This made it easier for their team to manage content and keep the site up to date, while also creating a more seamless experience for users.
The new site reflects ACU’s community-first mission through approachable design, use of their own photography as much as possible, and clear, intuitive navigation. We paired their brand font with a secondary web typeface and integrated the brand colors into the design to create a site that feels modern, personal, welcoming, and fresh.
To support both member experience and operational efficiency, we developed several customizations, including a branch and ATM locator and a custom rate management tool. These features make it easier for members to access key information.
Accessibility was also a priority throughout the build. The site meets WCAG Level AA standards, with strong color contrast, clear content hierarchy, and flexible layouts that support both everyday banking needs and community storytelling. The end result is a site that’s user-friendly, straightforward to maintain, and deeply aligned with ACU’s values and vision.

Working with Mangrove on ACU’s new English website was a great experience. Their team really understood what we wanted, made the website look fresh, and made the whole process easy and enjoyable.
