Clean Vehicle Assistance Program

accessible and affordable clean vehicles

The Clean Vehicle Assistance Program is a pilot grant program for helping lower-income California residents purchase a new or used hybrid or electric vehicle. A partnership between Beneficial State Foundation and California Climate Investments (CCI), their goal is to make environmentally-friendly vehicles accessible and affordable to all.  Mangrove was brought on to create a website that makes it easy to quickly understand the program and encourages qualified users to apply.  The site also needed to be accessible to a diverse audience and ADA compliant.

The website the Mangrove team created for us has given us our most valuable piece of collateral and enabled us to house the online application for our program in a friendly, informative, and beautiful online location.  The team produced high quality and timely work, and we had a very positive experience with everyone.

The Process

Because this program was brand new, it not only needed a website, but a name, branding, and marketing content. Working alongside our content strategy partners at Diverge Labs, we took the clients through the naming and content strategy process to ensure the brand messaging was consistent and complete. After the name was established, we developed their logo and brand guidelines before moving into the web design process. The design phase also included custom icons to mirror the logo style.

Our Approach

We designed this site to integrate with CVAP’s Hubspot-based application process, with clear calls to action prompting potential participants to engage. All of the site content was consciously written and graphically presented in a way that is straightforward and approachable, as switching to a clean vehicle may feel overwhelming to those unfamiliar with the technology. The site is available in both Spanish and English, and is ADA compliant.
