World Affairs

Bringing people together to turn global ideas into local actions

With an updated, impactful, and easy-to-navigate WordPress site, this independent, non-partisan community forum is well equipped to serve its audience and advance its mission. World Affairs’ goal is to connect communities to the rest of the world in ways that inspire new ideas and lead to local actions. Through programs, presentations and broadcasts, they provide a forum for global learning that can lead to personal actions.

The Ask

World Affairs wanted to revamp their existing website design to improve navigation and functionality and transition from outdated donor software. Their goal was to create a less cumbersome experience for visitors and move away from a difficult-to-update backend. To achieve this, they wished to explore custom WordPress development and alternative tools that would result in an optimized site experience.

The Solution

We rebuilt the World Affairs site on WordPress in order to provide both a stunning and smoothly performing environment, flexibility for growth and essential backend functionality. Recommendations included a set of internal plugins that would achieve World Affairs’ needs on the donor side. This project was an early collaboration between the newly merged Mangrove and Manoverboard teams. Working together as a new team, our design and development experts were able to deliver a user-focused site design with everything World Affairs requires as they continue to grow their site, including a space to feature their popular podcast.

The new site showcases the breadth of World Affairs’ programming and reflects the ongoing relevance and importance of the organization within the Northern California/Bay Area community.

Highlights

Our designers carefully selected a few additional colors to complement World Affairs’ bold brand colors, which elevated the site visually.

Prior to connecting with Mangrove, our organization's website hadn't properly been updated in years. After having revamped our organizational mission and branding, we needed a complete redesign to reflect our new direction and goals. It was a tall order given that we had years worth of events, broadcasts and other content to consolidate.Mangrove took the project head on and their team understood our needs from the beginning. Their approach was thoughtful and their team was organized, knowledgeable and responsive to our feedback and requests. The finished product is exactly what we had hoped for, and our website now perfectly reflects our revised brand. We couldn't be happier with the Mangrove team and would recommend them to any mission-driven organization.
