The Ask
CFGM came to Mangrove with an existing site that needed a redesign and a reimagining of its structure. As their content was spread across three separate sites, they saw an opportunity to create a more streamlined experience for the donors, nonprofits, and community partners they serve. CFGM wanted their website to function as a digital philanthropic hub where charitably-minded individuals and grant-seeking organizations could find the information, resources, and support they needed to take action.
Our work centered on design and custom WordPress development to bring all of that content together in one place, while building a structure flexible enough to serve multiple distinct audiences and meet WCAG Level AA accessibility standards.

The Solution
A flexible, unified platform
We rebuilt CFGM’s site on WordPress, giving their team a flexible foundation that is easy to maintain while creating a more cohesive experience for visitors. A key part of our work was building two custom, connected databases — a nonprofit directory and a grants hub — enabling CFGM to better consolidate their standalone sites into a single, unified platform. Users can explore nonprofits alongside the grants they have received, with search, alphabetical filtering, and category tag filtering making it easy to find what they are looking for.
Purpose-built member portal
We also built a custom member portal for CFGM’s board and committee members. Drawing on the same flexible block system used across the rest of the site, the portal offers a dedicated, permission-based space where committees can access and manage content in a way that feels purposeful and built for them.
A welcoming and accessible experience
Throughout the project, accessibility was woven into our design and development process, with careful attention to color contrast, typography, and content hierarchy to meet WCAG Level AA standards. The result is a warm, professional, and welcoming site that reflects CFGM’s mission and presents their work clearly for every audience they serve.
Highlights
- Connected databases: The nonprofit directory work was strong enough that CFGM asked us to build a connected grants database as well, linking the two so users can move between nonprofits and the grants they have received.
- Consolidating sites: WordPress development made it possible to consolidate three separate sites into one.
- Custom member portal: A purpose-built portal replaces PDFs with a dedicated, permission-based space for board and committee members.

It was such a pleasure working with the Mangrove team to bring our new website to life. They embraced our vision — and the need to inform and inspire diverse audiences — and offered creative, solutions-oriented ideas for our stakeholders and community. Simple to manage yet incredibly robust, the site is full of tools and resources for donors and grantseekers alike. I truly believe its content and ease of use will drive increased philanthropy in our community.
