Reflection and Transformation in 2023 and 2024

Highlights from our latest annual report

A lot changed for our team in 2023 and 2024 — from officially merging with Manoverboard, a fellow B Corp creative agency, to navigating an economic downturn and evolving and adapting our team. Along the way, we’ve embraced new collaborations and opportunities that have helped shape who we are today.

We are a smaller team now, but we’re also nimble, grounded, and as aligned as ever with our purpose. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to the people we serve: our communities, clients, friends, and partners who continue to do meaningful work in the world. We are also unwavering in our commitment to our own work and our values as a business.

As we reflect on the past two years in this latest report, here are a few highlights we’re proud to share:

Welcoming Manoverboard

We started 2023 with a bang when we officially merged with Manoverboard. The expertise of the team members that joined us deepened our skill set, enabling us to take on larger, more complex projects and offer expanded in-house services. These include branding and identity design, advanced animations, digital data modeling, more robust accessibility support, and an added focus on digital sustainability.

WBENC certification

We’ve been a woman-owned business since day one, but in 2024 we officially became a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC) This milestone was meaningful for several reasons not least because it aligns with our values as a B Corp and our commitment to advancing women-owned businesses and helping build a more inclusive and equitable business landscape.

Joining the WBENC network connects us with a broader community of women business owners and advocates who share our vision for a more inclusive economy. It also creates new opportunities for growth and collaboration with organizations that prioritize working with diverse vendors.

Knowledge sharing

We believe that part of doing good work is sharing what we learn along the way and 2024 presented exciting opportunities to do just that.

In March, Maiya joined Daman Wandke of Wandke Accessibility and Jay Wall (formerly of Briteweb) at the 2024 B Corp Champions Retreat in Vancouver, Canada. Together, they led a breakout session on designing for accessibility, helping other B Corps explore ways to make their digital spaces more inclusive.

Then in June, Andrew took the stage at Creative Mornings Winnipeg — a chapter co-founded by longtime colleague (and Mangrove team member!) Daniel Lamb. In a session that combined inspiration and hands-on creativity, Andrew shared insights on design, DIY publishing, and the power of zines and printed matter. Attendees even got to create a collaborative zine of their own.

60 new sites and rebuilds

Over the past two years, we’ve launched or rebuilt 60 websites — each one a reflection of close collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. These projects have pushed us to grow, explore new ideas, and refine our processes. And more than anything, they’ve reminded us why we do this work: to support people and organizations making a difference. Designing, coding, and building websites is how we use our skills to do good, and that remains deeply fulfilling.

Looking ahead

Creating our annual report isn’t just about looking back, it’s about mapping the road ahead and staying accountable to our values. In 2025, we’re measuring our progress against a series of annual commitments and specific new objectives, including intentionally improving workflows and exploring new tools for efficiency, recertifying as a BCorp using the updated BIA standards, and developing our culture of excellence around all product development with a focus on QA.
